Vision
How does the work of your committee support the objects and mission of PTA and the focus of MCCPTA?
The MCCPTA Bylaws Committee is responsible for keeping the MCCPTA bylaws current and for helping the local PTAs stay in compliance with up-to-date bylaws – by reminding the local PTAs of the status of their bylaws,  providing training and assistance in their bylaws reviews, and encouraging them to use their bylaws as a leadership tool.
In the broad view, MCCPTA and the local PTAs would all have up-to-date bylaws approved by the Maryland PTA and their leaders would be comfortable using them.
 Goals
Give a summary statement of your committee’s goals for this year.  Consider how you will identify attainment.
 1.        To be sure that the MCCPTA bylaws amended at the May Delegate Assembly are approved by Maryland PTA.
2.        To inform each local PTA about the status of their bylaws and encourage those that need to review/amend their bylaws to complete that task.
3.        To encourage incorporation by those PTAs not incorporated and remind those PTAs who are incorporated to be sure to protect that incorporation.
4.        To provide training and information for any PTA that requests it.
5.        To urge Maryland PTA to expeditiously approve local PTA bylaws and to clarify their materials on the subject.
We’ll be able to track the attainment of these goals as local PTA bylaws come into compliance and as we keep a record of the trainings and support the bylaws committee provides.
 Action Steps
What does your committee plan to do to achieve these goals?  Include plans for meetings, mailings, etc., interaction with other MCCPTA committees, MCPS staff you may work with and in what capacity, other county, state or federal agencies, organizations you may contact as part of your action plan.
We will review the list that Maryland PTA provides quarterly on the status of Montgomery County PTAs’ bylaws, provide checklists for cluster coordinators and AVPs, notify each local PTA of the status of their bylaws, provide workshops at all levels (county, area, cluster, and local),  answer questions, and offer advice as requested.
 Expenses
Include costs of mailings, copying, supplies, awards, etc.

Our expenses should be minimal since we can use the MCCPTA copier and the pony.
