We are in the final quarter of school and this school year
is quickly winding down as is our PTA year.
But during this time of year – MCCPTA remains active and busy. Our April delegate’s assembly will begin with
our annual elections. We have attached a
copy of the slate of officers that the nominating committee presented at our
last meeting. Please be assured that
nominations can always be made from the floor.
The election of officers will be voted upon by the entire assembly. The elections of area vice presidents and
cluster coordinators will be voted upon by each individual area and clusters
during our meeting. Please try to sit together so that we
can facilitate our voting at the meeting.
You will find attached a resolution presented
by Area VP Rosanne Hurwitz on behalf of Richard Montgomery HS at our last
assembly regarding the MCPS media policy.
We also have a new resolution added by our Curriculum Chairman Ted
Willard who is presently working on the MCPS media policy work group. Please read them both carefully and come
prepared to vote according to the position of your PTA.
Attached is the resolution presented by
the Gifted Child committee regarding middle school enrichment. Please go through this resolution and come
prepared to vote according to the position of your PTA.
The MCCPTA bylaws revisions are attached
for your review. Please review carefully and come prepared to vote according to
the position of your PTA at the May Delegates Assembly.
At our March delegates assembly our
Treasurer, Juan Johnson made a motion for action at this meeting to raise the
current MCCPTA dues from $.75 to $1.00.
He said the increase is necessary to cover the needs of our organization
and to address the deficit in our budget this year. If you have any questions about this
increase, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Johnson.
On April 19, 2006, MCCPTA will be
honoring the Stedwick ES PTA as our “Champions for Children” award winner at
the MCBRE Champions for Children Gala. . We
would like to thank and compliment every PTA who applied for the award. Our Awards committee had a very difficult
time choosing a winner because all entries were wonderful. At our President and Principals dinner we
will be distributing a booklet with all of the entries because we wanted
everyone to have an opportunity learn about the wonderful programs that our
local PTAs are using everyday. Thank you
for all that you all do for our children!
Please do not forget that we voted
earlier in the year to add a May delegate’s assembly. We will meet on May 23, 2006 the day before
our annual Presidents and Principals dinner at Indian Spring Country Club.
I hope that everyone enjoys their Spring Break and comes
back refreshed and ready for our meeting on April 25, 2006.
Cindy
